Holiday perspective from another world
INSPIRATION. You may not be able to find this with your smart telescope, but it's still a view worth contemplating as 2024 draws to a close.
Although it doesn’t look like much at first glance this is one of my favorite pictures. I even have it set as my desktop background. It’s namely a shot of Earth from just after sunset on Mars, courtesy of the Curiosity rover (you’ll have to click to expand in order to get the full experience).
That’s us up there, all of us together, on that tiny dot. I like this reminder of our relative scale in the Universe, whenever an app crashes or I go searching for a new screenshot.
